Managing Maine's Waste Today for a Better Tomorrow
Our Vision
At Mid-Maine Waste, we strive to responsibly manage the waste of our communities, transforming it into valuable renewable energy while minimizing environmental impact. We believe in a sustainable future where waste becomes a resource, powering our homes and contributing to a cleaner tomorrow.
Who We Are
Mid-Maine Waste Action Corporation (MMWAC) was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization to address the waste management needs of over a dozen local municipalities in Maine. Over the years, we have evolved into a leading waste-to-energy facility, utilizing cutting-edge technology to convert waste into clean, renewable energy.
Our Process
Our modern waste-to-energy facility processes over 72,000 tons of waste annually, generating enough steam to create approximately 17,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity. This electricity is enough to power approximately 2,000 homes, contributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.
Our Services
We offer a comprehensive range of services to our diverse clientele, including:
- Waste collection and disposal: Efficient and responsible disposal of various waste types, including household, commercial, and bulky items.
- Recycling: Sustainable and environmentally conscious recycling services for various materials.
- Renewable energy generation: Transformation of waste into clean, renewable energy, reducing landfill dependence and emissions.
Our Commitment
Our team is dedicated to providing our communities with reliable, safe, and sustainable waste management solutions. We prioritize environmental responsibility by utilizing advanced technology and operating at the highest industry standards. Our commitment to transparency and community involvement ensures that we remain accountable and responsive to the needs of those we serve.

Overall Satisfaction
The reviews for this place are mixed, with some customers having positive experiences and others having negative ones.
Competitive Prices and Friendly Staff
Several reviewers praised the competitive prices and friendly staff. Joshua Byras gave 5 stars and mentioned that the people are "always very nice to deal with and their prices are very competitive". Sara also gave 5 stars and mentioned that "all the employees here are great! Very helpful, funny, and polite". Ray Lebrun had a quick and easy experience, saying it was "easy to throw out a old couch" and that he was "in and out in about 6 mins". Chris L'Hommedieu praised the "professional and courteous staff" and the well-laid out dumping site.
Disorganization and Disgust
However, not all reviewers had a positive experience. John Hunter was extremely dissatisfied, giving the place only 1 star. He mentioned waiting in line for over 30 minutes to get to the scale house and then being treated poorly by the cashier. He also noticed trash and nails on the ground, as well as a polluted pond. Mark Farrell's review was only focused on the selection of clothes and furniture, and did not mention the dumping site or staff.
